Solomon
Boyd was born in New York City. He grew up in Brooklyn, where he went
to church and learned the ways of the Lord. Later, his family moved to
Philadelphia. He always had a love for music and singing became his
passion. Solomon was encouraged to be a part of a group in Grade School
and High School. He soon started receiving awards, including Most
Talented. He went on to make a name for himself and started performing
on talent shows with his group. They began to gain popularity. They gave
performances at Uptown Theatre, Unity Day, Community College of
Philadelphia, Second Cousin and McGonigle Hall. They soon caught the eye
of Ricky and Ronnie of “New Edition." This relationship opened many
doors for the group. The decision was made to relocate to California
where they learned what it took to become and remain in demand. In 1993
the group Brother was established, and they signed their first recording
deal with Vincent Herbert(Husband of Tamar Braxton) and Sylvia Rome the
President of East/West Records. Their first album in 1994 was released;
entitled, Ghetto Love. Solomon has been featured in national magazines
like Source, XXL, and Vibe. He has performed on national tours with the
likes of female group Brownstone, Brandy, Changing Faces and Notorious
B.I.G. In 1997 Solomon signed with CashMoney/Universal Records. During
that time the group completed an album and released a single. They went
on to do the House of Blues while on the Baller Blocker, Cash Money
Rough Rider tour. Also, the group made appearances at the Source Awards
and Soul Train. In 2002 Solomon transitioned from R&B to Gospel.
Solomon has experienced what many artists only dream of, with years of
great success and incredible highs there have also been times of
significant loss and disappointing lows. Solomon through his faith has
been able to proclaim that God remains faithful.
