The genre he tends to gravitate to is reggae because he grew up in a community in which reggae was used to express how they felt, watching guys freestyle on the streets and chanting from their hearts and mind. Reggae music gives a nice feel and he believes it suits his voice. These days talent seemingly trumps worship and anointing, so souls are tickled rather than saved. But, more than ever, true worshippers are being equipped and called to spread the Gospel of Christ through music. And the twenty-eight-year-old, Maryland-native and singer-songwriter, DeQuana, is one of those worshippers.  Being pruned for ministry wasn't easy for DeQuana. Because of her insecurity about her God-given voice and being a stickler for staying out of the limelight, she rejected purpose for many years leading to a life of anger, confusion, depression, and discontentment.
