JL is a survivor and is thriving despite his past. Not only does JL give God praise but he learned through his process how to surrender, forgive and to let go of the hurt, shame and disappointments, to experience wholeness, peace and freedom.
The chorus of “Surrendering Remix” simply says;
“You’re everything to me. You’re the air I breathe. And I believe. You rescued me”.
He places the listener at the moment he was saved. This was a very monumental moment in his life. Picture him out stretched arms, as he sings with great power;
“I give you my everything. To you my heart I bring. Right here in this moment Lord. I’m surrendering”.
This is a familiar scene that many people with a testimony have experienced and relate to.
JL often shares his story and is a beacon of light in areas other than the entertainment industry. Not only is he a motivational speaker and peer educator, in 2013 he became an advocate for those who are living with HIV/AIDS. His ministry moves outside of the church and meets you right where you are. With his music and advocacy, JL doesn’t judge of the circumstances of others. He is a singer of the people. He walked in their shoes and wants to assure them that there is hope. He is a living breathing witness of God’s love, grace and mercy.
JL, is a member, spiritual leader and praise and worship leader at The Kingdom Church in Emporia, VA under the leadership of his spiritual leader and Pastor, Dr. T. Andre Mason, Sr. JL currently resides in Raleigh, NC, USA.
