The ORG, The Organization, consists of two men who share a common vision for today’s music. Shawn “B Down” Chapman and Clinton “360” Smith, met in 1995 while working out of the same studio on various music projects. Their true passion for music was the common thread that wove a tight bond between them. After working on solo projects as well as projects with other artists the three men united to form The ORG. This group is committed to using their music to reach souls and inspire generations. The ORG is tighter than ever and here with something different to offer the world.
Presenting the ORG….
Shawn Chapman aka B-Down was born in Queens, New York and moved to Newark, New Jersey at the age of 9. At an early age he found he was fascinated by rap music, by the age of 16 he started a rap group called Long Ova Due. This group went on to put out an independent record, Due Date, in 1991. During the making of this project he was able to go on tour with hip hop artists, T La Rock and Twin Hype and also formed close friendships with many famous rappers. When Long Ova Due disbanded he was asked to join an all star rap group which consisted of some of the best rap talent in Newark, New Jersey. After the group broke up he went on to work with the group Nu World Hustle and had a helping hand in the Driicky Graham project. At this point in his career he decided to give up the mic and use his talents behind the scenes. Old habits die hard so when he felt the need to pick up the mic again he had a vision of what emerged as The ORG. B-Down feels that this project will have a positive impact on the kids of the hip hop generation and will teach them positive messages through music. He believes that the world is lost and needs direction. The ORG will redirect today’s youth and speak the truth. B Down believes there is a disconnect between hip hop and Christianity and The ORG is that missing link.
Clinton Smith aka 360 is a 2012 Rhythm of Gospel Awards Nominee for Holy Hip Hop Artist of the Year, Holy Hip Hop CD of the Year, and Holy Hip Hop Song of the Year. The name 360 signifies the life cycle of the Newark, New Jersey born native. At the age of eight 360’s devoted single mother introduced him to the church. However, as many of us do, 360 began to explore the secular world with friends. This search only ended back where it began, with God!Thus, the "full circle" gave birth to the name 360. While performing in the mainstream rap world, 360 had the opportunity to open shows for various artists, but bringing souls to Christ has now become his number one goal. He believes that mental imprisonment is the worst form of confinement, and wishes to help all who feel trapped. He maintains his solid, street-found flow, while at the same time, spreads the Gospel through testimony and Scripture. His works are also published in GrapeVine Magazine of Christian Literature. His prayer is that you will be as blessed hearing his music, as he was writing it. B Down, and 360 are each powerhouses in their own right and together, as The ORG, they plan to introduce the masses to true inspirational rap music.
