Sonya Alaine is the oldest of eight children born and raised in Port St. Joe, Florida. She started singing at the age of five with the Star Light Band at Zion Fair Missionary Baptist Church and later became a member of the Youth Choir. Growing up in a small town, there were not many radio stations to listen to, so she was exposed to few genres of music. She then began to sing along with gospel artists like Tramaine Hawkins, Bebe and CeCe Winans and the Clark Sisters to name a few. Although she was shy and lacked confidence, she continued to develop her gift of singing. It wasn’t until many years later that she became somewhat comfortable with singing solo. Although she was diagnosed with an ear disease that causes vertigo, she continues to uplift and praise God.
Sonya’s had the privilege of being a part of many programs, concerts and events. She was the Featured Artist for Its ^2U Father’s Day Concert in Panama City, Florida. She was an opening artist for Angie Stone and Friends in 2017. She was a guest for the Aspiring Artists Showcase on 108 Praise Radio with Them Royalty Boys and has been a guest for many Lion and Lamb Music Concerts. In 2019 she was a featured artist at Lit Nights Live Showcase with Ed and Bre of Praise 102.5 Atlanta.
The song “24 Hours Praise Him” was the first song released from her EP and has been heard on Kirk Franklin Sirius XM Radio, KRGN Texas Radio and iWorship 96 Radio, to name a few. God has blessed her with the gift of songwriting as well. She wrote songs for her first EP entitled “Conqueror”. Her videos to the songs “24 Hours Praise Him” and “Deliverance” are available on You Tube. She has written Christmas songs and has also been a feature on other artists’ projects. Her music is available on digital outlets and Sound Cloud.
One of her favorite scriptures is Jeremiah 29:11, “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future”. Sonya continues to work on projects and it’s her desire to share the gospel through her ministry. It is her prayer that through her music lives are changed and that all get to know Jesus.
